The Gender Equality in ASEAN Energy Booklet – Volume III highlights the importance of advancing a Just and Inclusive Energy Transition (JIET) in ASEAN by placing gender equality and broader inclusion at the centre of the region’s energy future.
This growing momentum for JIET is further driven by the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship, which prioritises peace, stability, and inclusive growth under the theme of “Navigating Our Future, Together.” The Chairship is strategically aligned with the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2026-2030, which, for the first time, explicitly embeds JIET principles as a core pillar of the regional theme. By integrating gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) dimensions in the ASEAN’s energy planning, the regional agenda provides a crucial analytical direction for the booklet.
The booklet explores how JIET is being reflected in regional and national energy policies, including the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2026–2030, while identifying key opportunities and challenges in ensuring a more equitable transition.
