ACCEPT II
In 2023, ACCEPT introduced its first international study tour to promote multistakeholder collaboration, selecting Norway as a model country due to its ambitious target to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 90–95% from 1990 levels by 2050. The visit highlighted Norway’s global leadership in the energy transition through its advanced policy frameworks, innovative technologies, and international partnerships.
Expanding on this momentum, ACCEPT II extended the study tour in 2024 to include Germany—renowned for its leadership in renewable energy—to foster broader knowledge exchange. The 2024 programme, titled “ASEAN’s Journey to a Net Zero Future”, took place from 25–31 August and brought together delegates from eight ASEAN Member States (AMS) for a series of institutional and site visits in Norway and Germany. These engagements enabled rich discussions on low-carbon technologies and strategies for accelerating the energy transition.
Highlights from the Norway segment included visits to the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Climate and Environment, NORAD, Equinor, Hafslund Celsio Klemetsrud, and Indonesian Embassy in Oslo. In Germany, the delegation engaged with key institutions such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Innovation and Technology Centre, and Forschungszentrum Jülich.
Through this comprehensive programme, ACCEPT II significantly strengthened ASEAN’s exposure to global best practices and innovation in energy transition, reinforcing regional efforts towards a sustainable and net-zero future.
