Following Lao PDR as the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024, it will be beneficial for Lao PDR to be the first ASEAN Member State (AMS) for the country-level low-carbon economy model. Therefore, a joint study on “An Energy Sector Roadmap to Net Zero Emissions in Lao PDR” is being jointly conducted between the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) of Lao PDR. The joint study analyses the urgency of net zero modelling at a country level to understand the country’s analysis on achieving its net zero target in future. 

This launching event aims to disseminate and present the findings of the report to relevant Lao PDR focal points, such as the 8th ASEAN Energy Outlook (AEO8) Working Group, related ministries, energy institutions, and other related stakeholders. From a country perspective, this report aims to provide an analysis of the roadmap to achieve country net zero emissions target in future of Lao PDR.
