In November 2023, ACCEPT organised a Study Visit to Norway, marking a significant step in practical knowledge exchange. During this visit, representatives from ASEAN Member States (AMS) engaged deeply with Norway’s energy and climate strategies through comprehensive site visits. These interactions provided valuable insights into Norway’s policies and technical approaches towards achieving its ambitious low-emission targets. Encouraged by the success and learnings from this visit, ACCEPT plans to broaden its scope. This year, in August 2024, a Study Visit will extend to include Norway and Germany, offering a wider perspective on European strategies for integrating energy and climate policies.

ACCEPT II is delighted to invite you to the upcoming energy-climate study tour to Norway and Germany, entitled “ASEAN’s Journey towards A Net Zero Future” happening from 26-31 August 2024. Together with representatives from 8 ASEAN Member States (AMS), this study tour was prepared by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) through ACCEPT with our partner from the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). We will traverse through through Oslo, Norway and Bonn, Germany to pay visits to key sites related to the energy-climate nexus. Stakeholder discussions and international engagements will be held between institutions in order to enhance ASEAN’s progress towards a net zero future.  The itinerary includes 3 days in Oslo (26-28 August 2024) and 2 days in Bonn (29-30 August 2024), with a return to ASEAN on 31 August 2024. By drawing on the experiences and lessons from Norway and Germany, ACCEPT aims to equip ASEAN with the knowledge and insights necessary for crafting effective policies and strategies for a sustainable and low-carbon future.

This collaborative effort is expected to provide a multi-faceted perspective on the challenges and solutions related to energy and climate policy, facilitating a comprehensive learning experience for the ASEAN Member States. Through this synergy, the study tour is poised to offer practical examples of successful energy transitions, innovative policy approaches, and effective climate action strategies that can inspire and inform future initiatives within the ASEAN region.
