As part of its continuous efforts to foster youth engagement in regional energy and climate action, the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) through the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project Phase II (ACCEPT II) was invited by the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) to set up an exhibition booth at the FPCI’s ASEAN for the People Conference. The exhibition, held from 4-5 October, served as an interactive platform to introduce the work of ACE and ACCEPT IIand to promote awareness of the evolving energy–climate change landscape across the ASEAN region.
Throughout the event, participants from various backgrounds, including youth representatives, civil society organisations, ministries, and academic institutions, visited the booth to learn more about ACE’s role in advancing regional cooperation on sustainable energy. The ACCEPT II team facilitated in-depth discussions on topics such as the integration of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and the challenges and opportunities of achieving a just and inclusion energy transition in Southeast Asia.

To encourage active participation and make the learning experience more engaging, the ACCEPT II team organised an interactive quiz activity related to ASEAN’s energy and climate nexus. Participants were prompted to pick one card out of the quiz card deck and answer questions such as; “What is energy transition?” and “Name two types of renewable energy!”
Those who participated received exclusive ACCEPT II merchandise, such as keychains, notebooks, tumbler, and stickers, as a token of appreciation. This initiative not only helped spark interest among young participants but also served as a fun and educational way to deepen their understanding of general energy and climate issues, as well as the issues’ development in the ASEAN region.

Through this exhibition, ACCEPT II reaffirmed its commitment to fostering inclusive dialogue and empowering youth as vital stakeholders in the region’s journey toward a sustainable, low-carbon future. The team reaffirmed the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in driving a resilient and sustainable ASEAN community, consistent with its commitment to a just and inclusive energy transition.
In conclusion, ACCEPT II’s participation in the discussion reaffirmed that achieving a low-carbon future demands more than technological progress or economic reform. It must also be grounded in fairness, inclusivity, and intergenerational equity. By connecting the themes of power, peace, and people, the session reinforced the importance of a people-centred just transition.
