ACCEPT II Core Team
Energy professional with 13+ years of experience in managing programs and conducting research on energy and climate change, supporting the governments of 10 countries in Southeast Asia to build climate-friendly energy sector development under the ASEAN Ministers on Energy overview.
Currently leading energy partnerships with the U.S., Russia, China, India, Norway, and international development agencies, overseeing multimillion projects’ portfolios, including the ASEAN Energy and Climate Change Project (ACCEPT); the first integrated official project that addressed the regional emissions reduction from the energy sector, endorsed by the ASEAN Ministers on Energy, and now extended into the ACCEPT Phase 2: 2022-2026.
A Non-Resident Fellow, The Energy for Growth, Washington, D.C. United States of America; Steering Committee of Global Consortium on Power System Transformation (G-PST), Core Member of Green Grid Initiative Asia-Pacific Working Group, Advisory Board of AGENCE FRANÇAISE DE DÉVELOPPEMENT (AFD) Indonesia, and former Sustainability Advisory Council of PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa (GO-JEK).
Aldilla joined the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) as Senior Officer of Power, Fossil Fuel, Alternative Energy and Storage where she also leads research for the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT) as Senior Research Analyst. She manages and executes the implementation and coordination work of ACCEPT and aim to expands the project portfolio across Southeast Asia.
Her main duty is not only to lead research on low carbon energy in ASEAN region towards a net zero future, but also to lead information sharing on energy and climate nexus among policy makers in the region through capacity building and dissemination events and activities. Her expertise is in energy and climate change nexus, energy policy, energy transition, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). She also has special interest in promoting gender equity in the energy sector.
Prior to joining ASEAN Centre for Energy, she had seven years experience at Pertamina, the Indonesia’s state-owned Energy Company. She holds an MSc in Geography from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and a BA in Economics from Airlangga University, Indonesia. She is currently finishing her doctoral degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Ilham joined the ASEAN Centre of Energy (ACE) as a Research Analyst of Sustainable Energy, Renewable Energy Department (SRE), where he also involved in the research for the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT). He works to conduct research and study on net-zero emission and carbon pricing in ASEAN and designing and implementing the policy studies. Furthermore, He also supports other related studies on the energy-climate nexus in ASEAN.
Ilham holds a B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering from Universitas Indonesia and a Master’s degree in Energy Systems and Data Analytics (MSc) from University College London. Prior joining to ACE, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the oil and gas, construction and power industry. He has strong interests in doing research in energy modelling, energy policy and energy spatial planning.
Indira joined the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) as an Associate Officer of Modelling and Policy Planning (MPP), where she also involves in the research for the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT).
She supports the project through Op-Eds, Energy Insights, and Policy Brief report writing. Prior to this, she was involved in ACE’s research project on Innovative Solar PV Utilisation to Support the Green Economic Recovery in ASEAN. She once was a Junior Research Assistant for Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Cornell University. Graduated from Department of Environmental Engineering ITS, she has a great interest on doing research related to climate change, energy, environmental, and sustainability issues.
Zharen obtained her BA in accounting from the Trisakti University, Indonesia. Currently, she is the administration and finance officer at the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), and a member of the research team for the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT). She supports and assists the team in ensuring the smooth running of the operations and compliance with the rules and procedures. In addition, she leads the preparation of financial reports, which to be submitted to the Norway Ministry of Foreign Affairs (project donor), project implementing agencies and/or project partners.
Amara is part of the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT) II Core team at the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). She is a recent graduate from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific studies and majored in Culture, Society, and Media (CSM). Her passion for media studies and prior experience in journalism has allowed her to gain insight to the importance of mitigating climate change for the betterment of future generations. As Junior Associate Communication Officer, she hopes to utilize ACCEPT’s social media platforms to spread the importance of fostering a net zero community.
ACCEPT II Intern
Kleovan is part of the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT) II intern team at the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). He is a final year student at the University of Indonesia (UI), majoring in Economics. His passion for renewable energy and sustainability is reflected by his past affiliations with renowned Indonesian student organizations, such as Green Economy and Youth Organization. His interest in renewable energy and sustainability stems from his chosen courses, Environmental and Natural Resources Economics. He has also been active in research paper competitions, achieving second place in the Purnomo Yusgiantoro Center Paper Competition for his analysis of how green finance and the digital economy influence the renewable energy transition in G-20 countries. Furthermore, he won an essay competition organized by ERIA, where he explored the impact of deglobalization on the renewable energy transition. He is particularly interested in exploring the intersection of economics, environmental issues, and social welfare within the energy sector, with the aim of pursuing roles that address climate change while promoting sustainable growth.
Annisa Amelia is a member of the ACCEPT II intern team at the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). She is currently in third year at the Bandung Institute of Technology, majoring in Bioagriculture Engineering. She is deeply passionate about energy and sustainability. Annisa has gained valuable experience as a mentor in the Society of Renewable Energy ITB and leading a photovoltaics project. Additionally, she founded a startup focused on IoT-based biogas solutions, reflecting her passion for biomass energy. With a strong interest in research, engineering, and business, Annisa is well-equipped to explore, analyze, and collaborate on circular economy initiatives and sustainable energy technologies, aiming to accelerate the energy
Fadhiel is part of the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT) II Intern team at the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). He is a recent graduate from Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta, majored in Development Economics. His interest in environmental energy and sustainability stems from her chosen courses, Natural Resource Economics and Environmental Energy. This drove him to choose research on food security as her final project and actively participate in community service activities. Motivated by the main goal of renewable energy policy and its effects on the future economy, he has a strong interest in learning more about sustainable energy processes and policies. He hopes to make a positive impact on society by raising awareness of the importance of eco-friendly lifestyles through engaging visual campaigns on social media platforms.
Arsyad is part of the ASEAN Climate Change and Energy Project (ACCEPT) II intern team at the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE). He is a final year Information Engineering student at Gadjah Mada University. He has interest in clean energy and environment. Through his role as ICT Intern, he aims to support the technical matter.
Bayu P. Effendy is a Graphic Design Intern for ACCEPT II at ASEAN Centre for Energy, passionate about using design to address environmental issues. With a dual degree in Hadith and Hadith Sciences, and also non-degree qualifications in Psychological Counseling and Biological Studies, Bayu integrates his diverse background into his commitment to sustainability. Through his role, he aims to leverage impactful visuals to raise awareness about environmental challenges and promote sustainable practices within the community.
NUPI
Indra Overland is Research Professor and Head of the Center for Energy Studies at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). He started working on Southeast Asia in 1992 and has since worked as a long-term political observer in Cambodia for the Joint International Observer Group (JIOG) and done field-based research in Indonesia and Myanmar. In 2016 he was a Visiting Fellow at the ASEAN Centre for Energy in Jakarta. He did his PhD at the University of Cambridge and has been awarded the Toby Jackman Prize, the Marcel Cadieux Prize, the Stuland Prize and co-authored the most cited article published by the Journal of Eurasian Studies. Some of his relevant publications include “Myanmar’s Attractiveness of Investment in the Energy Sector”, “An International Comparative Perspective on Energy Subsidy Reform in Myanmar”, “Impact of Climate Change on ASEAN International Affairs”, and “A Match Made in Heaven? Strategic Convergence between China and Russia”.
Mikkel Frøsig Pedersen is a senior advisor who supports the senior management and research staff. His responsibilities include project development and management. He has management experience from several of NUPIs large projects in the area of peacekeeping, peacebuilding and mediation. Currently, he is involved in NUPI’s projects on Asia, and worked on projects in Africa and the Middle East. Before joining NUPI, he worked at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Dr Roman Vakulchuk is Senior Research Fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). He holds a PhD degree in Economics from Jacobs University Bremen in Germany. His main geographical specialization is the countries of Central Asia and Southeast Asia and fields of research are trade, infrastructure and transport, public administration, climate change, energy and natural resource management, investment climate, and state capitalism in emerging markets. Vakulchuk has served as project leader and expert in research projects organized by, inter alia, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Global Development Network (GDN), the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), the OECD, the Research Council of Norway, and the World Bank. He has also worked for the oil company Shell in Germany. In 2013, Vakulchuk was awarded the Gabriel Al-Salem International Award for Excellence in Consulting. Recent publications include: ‘Myanmar: A Political Economy Analysis’, ‘The Geopolitics of Renewable Energy’, ‘Myanmar’s Attractiveness of Investment in the Energy Sector’.
