Workshop on Carbon Pricing Policies for Brunei Darussalam

Description

The Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP) was launched in 2020 to pave low carbon and climate-resilient pathways for the country by 2035, through ten (10) key strategies. Strategy 6 of the BNCCP outlined carbon pricing as one of the key instruments that could advance and accelerate low carbon transition for Brunei Darussalam.

In ensuring that carbon pricing could be effectively and timely implemented in 2025, establishing the best suited model for Brunei Darussalam is crucial.

The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), the Brunei Climate Change Secretariat (BCCS) and the Institute of Policy Studies, Universiti Brunei Darussalam are collaborating in organising a workshop to increase understanding and technical capacities on carbon pricing policies. At this stage, capacity building is a crucial step in providing informed decisions in moving forward with designing and implementing carbon pricing, taking into account the importance of a comprehensive review including the potential impact on various sectors of the economy, including the energy sector.
